RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58)– Interstate 94 southbound near WIS 20 in Racine County closed on Friday, Jan. 1, due to a multi-car crash.
The Village of Caledonia Police Department is warning motorists the roadway is slick and exposure is low.
As of 2:30 this afternoon, all lanes on I-94 opened back up. Icy and treacherous is how some chauffeurs we consulted with explained conditions on the interstate.
“It's icy, it's slippery. The guys are out there doing the very best they can, however actually if there's no factor to be out on brand-new years day, I ‘d stay at home,” says Rob Schroeder.
Schroeder is owner of Tovar Snow Professionals. They maintain car park and sidewalks for industrial homes.
“It's been a hectic week. We've been in a snow drought up here, it's uncommon,” says Schroeder.
Authorities say these icy conditions caused a great deal of accidents.
“Don't get on the road. Essentially we had strategies so we're going, however it's most likely the worst driving I've had in a long period of time,” states Peter Burke.
Burke is driving from a Chicago residential area to Milwaukee.
“It's cold, it's windy. It's supposed to snow in the future tonight. This is all going to freeze up on us. It's supposed to be listed below freezing tonight so all I can say is stay home,” states Burke.
Authorities advise you to use caution If you require to be out on the road, or avoid being out if at all possible.
