Charles F. “Chuck “Harmon August 11, 1929 – April 14, 2021 RACINE -Charles F.”Chuck” Harmon Jr., age 91, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2021 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. Charles was born in Whitewater, WI on August 11, 1929, kid of the late Charles and Marjorie (nee Miller) Harmon.
Chuck finished from Whitewater High School “Class of 1948”. Furthering his education, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Education at Whitewater Teachers College, and Master's degree at Iowa State. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. On June 13, 1953, Chuck was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Jean Longley initially United Methodist Church in Waukesha. Through the years, Chuck broadened the minds of thousands of students in Racine. He began his career mentor science at McKinley Middle School, then Washington Park High School and lastly at J.I. Case High School before retiring in 1988 as the chair of the science department. He also proved to be a particularly good swim coach, coaching his kid, Jim, and numerous others to state champions. Chuck was a long time dedicated member, trustee, and volunteer at First United Methodist Church. In their extra time, Chuck and Jean delighted in square dancing with the Ridge Runners, circumnavigating the world together, gardening, and playing golf. Numerous pleased summertimes were spent on holiday in Minocqua with household, waterskiing and fishing into his eighties. He also took pleasure in beekeeping and woodworking. On his summers off he worked hard to improve Racine as a landscape designer, you can see proof of his labors around the neighborhood. Chuck will be finest remembered for his kindness, faith and terrific love and commitment for his household.
Chuck will be dearly missed by his caring wife of almost sixty-eight years, Jean; kids: Kathy (Paul) Slesar, Jim (Kris) Harmon, Connie (Scott) Boehm; grandchildren: Noah Slesar, Abby Slesar, Andrew Harmon, Matthew (Ellen) Harmon, Jase (Jordan) Harmon, Jacob Boehm, Casey Boehm; sister-in-law, Shirlee Harmon; nieces, nephews, other family members and good friends. In addition to his moms and dads, Chuck was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray.
Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 745 Main St., on Wednesday May 5, 2021, 4:00 p.m., with Rev. Jakes Voker officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Loved ones and friends might meet the household at the church on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. till 3:45 p.m. Memorials to the National Wildlife Fund (nwf.org) have actually been suggested.
