RACINE, WI– As protests on behalf of George Floyd and others who have died from police encounters enter their second week in Wisconsin, officials in Racine state they're pursuing several authorities reforms, including bias training, producing a brand-new job force that will examine Racine Police use-of-force policy, planning for a resident review board that will examine problems versus the police department, to name a few measures.
“Across the country, we are having a long overdue discussion about race and policing in America. Racism is structural and institutional, and it is incumbent on us to remove it in all its kinds. As Mayor, when I say ‘Black Lives Matter,' I must likewise acknowledge the protest we have actually spoken with the community to act locally to reform our authorities department,” Racine Mayor Cory Mason stated in a statement Monday. “Today, I am announcing a series of actions will improve the make-up of our authorities department, alter our policing policies and procedures, and engage our citizens so that reforms are substantially notified by the community.”
The Mayor's Task Force will be made up of 8 members of the community and the Mayor. The Mayor is designating the following neighborhood members to serve on the Task Force:

- Danielle Johnson
- Chuck Tyler
- Pastor Earnest Ni'A
- County Board Supervisor Fabi Maldanado
- State Rep.Greta Neubauer (D-Racine)
- Wally Rendon
- Yolanda Blair
